Rev. Jordan Harris
Rev. Jordan Harris is the Pastor of First Community UMC and Connexion UMC. As a queer person of color Rev. Jordan brings a diverse, grounded perspective to ministry — shaped by storytelling, relationship-building, and a deep belief that church should be a place where everyone belongs.
Jordan holds a Master of Divinity and Master of Theology from Boston University School of Theology, and has led Connexion since 2018 and First Community since 2026. Beyond the local church, Jordan co-chairs the Commission on Queer People's Status for the New England Annual Conference and serves as Board President of East Somerville Main Streets.

Director of Outreach and Community Life
Uchenna Awa is the Director of Outreach and Community Life at First Community United Methodist Church. She is a scholar and advocate whose work is rooted in faith, justice, community, and the belief that God created every person in God's image. She is passionate about creating spaces where people feel welcomed, heard, valued, and empowered to live fully into who God has created them to be.
Uchenna holds a Master of Divinity and a degree in Sacred Theology from Boston University School of Theology and has pursued advanced theological studies with a particular interest in Practical Theology, mission, evangelism, and the relationship between faith and lived experience. Her ministry is shaped by a deep commitment to connecting theology with the realities people face in their everyday lives.
Her interests include women’s empowerment, gender equality, children's dignity and safety, and advocacy for the girl child. She is especially passionate about creating communities where girls and women are protected from violence, given opportunities to flourish, and encouraged to recognize their God-given gifts and voices. Her theological interests also explore the experiences of African women and the ways culture, Scripture, history, and Christian tradition shape women’s lives and opportunities.
With a vision for building something meaningful, our founder brings a blend of big-picture thinking and hands-on experience. They set the tone for everything we do.
